Our wish list is growing...THANK YOU to those who have donated in the past! We spend a lot of money caring for these pooches and getting them ready for their forever homes. We thank you for your donations to offset these costs. If you can spare anything at all, you can send your gift to our PO Box or use the Chip-in (Paypal) link on the left column of this site. If you would prefer to support us in other ways, you can visit any of the sponsors on this site (especially the downloadable e-books on the home page!!) Without the support of all of our sponsors, fosters, volunteers, and other PDR family members, we couldn't go on. Bow wow wow...
While we sometimes joke that our group of volunteers should be called Hound Dog Rescue, in reality we have adopted many different dog breeds out to very happy families. In the past two years, we have rescued about 400 animals, thanks to the help of our community. Here are a few ways that you can help us to help animals: - Give a Little Bit - Donate food, bedding, leashes, chews, food bowls, dog houses, or traveling crates. Consider us before getting rid of that old comforter or blanket!
- Gift Cards - Phone cards, Gas cards, or other gift certificates, to cover communications/travel expenses.
- Office Equipment - Envelopes, Stamps, Paper, ink cartidges, memory sticks, flash drives, used computers, scanners, printers, mice, keyboards, phones, etc.
- Gift Baskets - We can sell gift baskets through our online gift store, but we need caring individuals to make them, or at least donate filler items: dog treats, soaps, bath beads, candy, etc. We also need baskets and cellophane wrap, as well as boxes to mail these in.
- eBay Goods - Whatever junk you have around the house, clothes, applicances, DVDs, we will take it. If you don't want it, let us sell it on eBay to help pay for our medical expenses! If you have larger items, they can be delivered to
- Lend a Hand - Come to one of our meetings, fund raisers, or special events. Volunteer to help out on one of our adoption days. Or you can even help us by ORGANIZING a fund raiser. Send us an email if you have any ideas!
- Protect Animals - Report animal cruelty and neglect, as well as injured or stray animals.
- Be a Responsible Pet Owner - Never let your dog roam free in an unfenced yard. Keep current identification on your dog or cat at all times. Spay or neuter your pet. We provide low cost spaying and neutering. Call us for info...
- Money Donations - If you'd like to help us out financially, you may send donations to our snail mail box or via PayPal. We appreciate your contribution!
- Any other ways to help - You can give us your time, you can write articles for us to post on this site, email your friends and ask them to check out our site, help plan a fund-raiser, the list goes on and on! Just drop us a line if you have any creative ideas for us...

Become a dog foster parent If adopting a dog is not possible for some reason, you can still help by becoming a foster parent. The heart of every rescue group is the foster home. It not only gets the dogs out of the pound quickly, and into a home environment, but also it allows us to get a better picture of the dog and gives him socialization, which will lead to a greater likelihood of finding that forever home sooner.
There are many ways you can help foster--even on an hourly or nightly basis, until we can make a more permanent arrangement. You could even do weekend--only fostering. There are so many different situations that we're faced with that we can be flexible with your availability.
All you need to do is be willing to provide temporary food, shelter, and love, and come to our adoptions on Sundays. Sometimes even if you cannot host a dog in your own home, we still need people who can act as a dog handler at our adoptions. The more volunteers we have, the less dogs have to stay home on adoption days.
So please consider becoming a temporary foster parent, even if on a short-term basis. You can pick up a dog on a Sunday afternoon, keep it a week, and bring it back to one of our adoptions the following week, at PetSmart on the west side of Springfield, off Veterans Parkway.
Frankly, good foster homes are our greatest need. If there's any way you can help in that respect, please call Lin, or send us an email. |
