Pound Dog RescueAn Illinois Rescue Group We're a non-profit, community-based group organized in February of 2005. We rescue and find permanent loving homes for the stray and unwanted animals of central Illinois, from Virginia (Cass County) to the Greater Springfield (Sangamon County) Area. To do this we rely on the support of many volunteers in our community. Our group has grown with the support of many people around the state and the country. We often work with other animal rescue groups and shelters in Chicago, St. Louis, Champaign-Urbana, Decatur, Bloomington, Normal, and Peoria, to find homes for as many dogs of all breeds (and sometimes cats) as we can. There is never a shortage of dogs who need to be adopted, but with your help we can put a big dent in the problem.
An additional boost to the animal welfare community has been the creation of many wonderful websites. For a while we posted our adoptable dogs on the Doggie Directory on this website, but in order to simplify the update process, we are now linking directly to our list on Petfinder. Our goal is to help match you with dogs who need families--not only in Illinois, but throughout the entire United States. Even if you do not live in in the midwest, we can help you find a rescue that is close to where you live, so that you can adopt the dog who is waiting to find you! So please be sure to tell your friends about Pound Dog Rescue, especially if they are thinking about adopting a dog!
