Pound Dog Rescue Adoption Contract

I understand that I am adopting this dog as a pet (companion animal) and for no other purpose.
Due to the fact they are the product of rescue and re-homing situations, animals adopted from
Pound Dog Rescue often will have special needs, both physical and emotional, and I agree to
provide the necessary care to happily maintain my pet. If at any time I am unable to provide
for my pet, or can no longer keep it, I agree to return the animal to the care pf Pound Dog Rescue.
I also agree not to sell or trade my adopted companion, or to (in any way) place the animal in any
dangerous or harmful situation. If my dog is impounded by any animal control agency, it may be
returned to Pound Dog Rescue at the agency's discretion. I promise to be a responsible pet owner.

This is not a contract to "buy" an animal, but an agreement to adopt a pet. All monies paid go
toward veterinary and other services for the animals. Pound Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization
and in many cases has spent more than the adoption fee in caring for these pets, and for this reason,
there can be no guaranteed refunds if a pet is returned. It wil be treated on a case by case basis.
My commitment to my pet is as strong as that to the other members of my family.

I agree that pets adopted from Pound Dog Rescue are primarily house pets and are not intended
to be chained (or otherwise tethered) to "dog houses" or in yards for unreasonable amounts of time.
My pet will not be left outside and exposed to the elements or be allowed to run loose unsupervised.
While fenced in yards is an ideal place for an animal to exercise and play, if this is not available, I
promise to walk my pet on a leash as necessary. I also agree to comply with all animal welfare laws
of the state of Illinois. I want my pet's life to be a rich and loving one.

If I am not able to comply with the above terms of adoption, I agree to return the animal to Pound
Dog Rescue without expectation of monetary compensation. I also agree to be solely responsible for
fines incurred, or any other judgements of damages levied, while the animal is in my care. I realize that
if I keep my pet happy and safe, it will be a harmonious addition to the community in which I live.

I understand this agreement and freely enter into it.
